OVERVIEW OF ADVENTURE LAND

In Adventure Land, large cities, vast forests, and terrifying mountain ranges dominate the land. Only the bravest adventurers go forth into the forests to find medicinal herbs and gold-filled streams. The forests, filled with fog creatures, are a vile and dangerous place to end up. The more things they acquire, the more favors they will win with the king.

SETUP

To begin setup, place the board in the center of the playing area. The terrain cards, fog creature cards, sword tiles, and herb tiles must be shuffled and placed in their own stack beside the board. The companions and sprites are placed beside the game board as well, with the gold oriented beside them.

The players must then choose an adventure to play, placing the overview card for their chosen adventure in the middle of the playing area, so that all players can see it. The players will then choose a color to represent them throughout the game. They will collect a score marker of that color as well, placing it on the scoring track at the zero place.

The number of players will determine what number of game pieces gets returned to the box. The players will then place their adventurers in the starting area found outside of rows one through four and columns A through D. Eight terrain cards are revealed and placed on the board, and the rest of them are placed in a stack beside the board, creating the draw pile. The game is then ready to begin.

GAMEPLAY

Beginning with the youngest player, the players will take turns, rotating clockwise around the group. The players are allowed to complete two actions during their turn, placing two terrain cards on the board and moving adventurers.

During their turn, the player will draw two of the terrain cards, each of which have coordinates that determine where they should be placed on the board. After they are placed, the used cards will be placed in the discard pile. Players are able to move their adventurers one of two ways; they may move one of their adventurers in one direction as far as they like two times, or they can move two adventurers one time each.

When moving an adventurer, they are able to jump over all tiles except fog creatures or water sprites. If they come in contact with one of these, they must battle it. The move cannot end on the same tile as a water sprite or another adventurer. In order to win a battel with a fog creature, the player must have a higher combat strength level than the creature. If the player wins the battle, the creature is placed in front of them. On the other hand, if they lose, their adventurer is placed in the box with their companions.

The game continues in this manner until the stockpile has been exhausted.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when there are no swords or companions available in the stockpile. The current round is completed, so that all of the players have an equal number of turns. The game will end immediately when no players are able to make a move. The players will score their points based on the adventure listed on their overview cards. The player with the most points, wins the game!
